1) Is the conference attendance really 100% free?
Answer: YES!
2) Can anyone apply for the SCECHs?
Answer: YES! But you do need to complete the online form for the State of Michigan (see Continuing Education Credits Page) and when you finish all your sessions, you must complete the form on the Continuing Education Credits Page (you have until May 26th to complete the form). If you are not a Michigan educator (or do not hold a MI certificate) we recommend you purchase an official attendance certificate if your district needs documentation of your hours.
3) How many sessions do I need to attend for the minimum 3 SCECHs?
Answer: 3 sessions (or 3 hours worth of sessions). Each 1 hour session is worth 1 SCECH, thus you need to attend at least 3 sessions. You can earn up to 19 SCECHs (a total of 19 one-hour sessions). YOU MUST attend the entire 60 minutes of a session (even if the session ends early, stay logged in until the hour is up).
4) Where can I find the links to the live sessions?
Answer: All links are found on the Conference Schedule page. In addition each day of the conference you will receive an email with the conference sessions and the links to each live virtual session.
5) How do I participate in the live sessions?
Answer: It's easy! You do not need to sign up to attend specific sessions. Instead click on the room link to the session you would like to attend, and it should open up in Blackboard Collaborate. Make sure you TEST Blackboard Collaborate to know that it is working on your computer BEFORE the conference. If Blackboard is not working properly on your computer, please contact the Blackboard support room (the conference facilitators cannot help with individual issues in Blackboard). Please NOTE that Blackboard Collaborate DOES NOT work on CHROMEBOOKS. It works very well on iPads, Smartphones, iPods (via the app which is free) or any other desktop or laptop computer.
6) Do I need high speed Internet to participate?
Answer: Yes! You will need to have broadband or wireless Internet to participate in the conference. Dial-up is too slow. We also recommend that you DO NOT connect to the Blackboard rooms via a local cafe or coffee shop where the Internet is split. A home wireless/broadband or school wireless is the best option.
7) Should I login early to the sessions I want to attend?
Answer: YES! We highly recommend that you login early (you can login up to an hour early). Each session can only accommodate 200 people, while most sessions average 80, every so often some of them go over 200.
8) How do I access the session recordings
Answer: All registered participants will be emailed the session recordings the Tuesday after the final day of the conference. The recordings will stay open for approximately 2 years.
9) Do you have a certificate or some form to show attendance or participation
Answer: Yes! However, there is a $25.00 fee. If you would like to purchase an attendance certificate that is signed by the conference coordinator and documents your hours of attendance, you must purchase by May 26th at 12:00.
10) What is the conference Hashtag?
Answer: #4T2017
11) What are the expectations that the presenter has for the participants?
These sessions are created to be interactive for participants. We expect our participants to participate, learn and collaborate together with the presenter and moderator. Building a strong professional learning network! This is a not a "sit and get" kind of conference!
